It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 21st (XXI) International Meeting on the Biology and Pathogenicity of Free-Living Amoebae (FLAM 2027), taking place at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, from 14–18 June 2027.
As the 21st International Meeting on the Biology and Pathogenicity of Free-Living Amoebae, FLAM continues a strong tradition of scientific exchange and collaboration across disciplines. The meeting brings together an international community of researchers, clinicians, public health professionals, industry partners, and patient advocates united by a shared interest in free-living amoebae and their impact on environmental, animal, and human health. Free-living amoebae occupy a unique position at the intersection of environmental microbiology, microbial ecology, evolution, infectious disease, antimicrobial resistance, and One Health. FLAM 2027 will provide an exciting forum to share the latest advances in amoebae biology, host–pathogen interactions, microbial symbioses, environmental reservoirs of disease, and emerging challenges in public and environmental health.
A particular strength of FLAM is its ability to foster meaningful interactions across disciplines and sectors. Alongside cutting-edge science, we will highlight the experiences and perspectives of patients and advocates, whose voices are essential in shaping research priorities, raising awareness, and improving clinical outcomes. We are delighted to host FLAM at the University of Strathclyde, in the heart of Glasgow, a vibrant, welcoming, and internationally connected city with a rich scientific and cultural heritage. Our aim is to create a stimulating and inclusive meeting that showcases excellent science, supports
early-career researchers, and encourages new collaborations across our global community. On behalf of the Organising and Scientific Committees, I warmly invite you to join us in Glasgow for what promises to be an inspiring and memorable week
of science, networking, and collaboration.
We look forward to welcoming you to FLAM 2027.
